The 1st Regiment, United States Infantry (recreated) is a Federal Civil War
reenacting unit with 70 members from the Dallas/Fort Worth and Central Texas
areas. Our core impression is that of regular infantry. The unit we portray was stationed on the Texas frontier prior to and after the Civil War. We strive to accurately portray a Federal Civil War soldier in garrison, static camp, and on campaign. While we obviously prefer to portray Regulars we will also portray volunteer units as the scenario dictates. Individual and unit authenticity and historical accuracy are crucial to living history and reenacting. We strive to make as few concessions to the present era as safety and common sense dictate. Modern anachronisms are discouraged. The precision of old army Regular units in drill and on the field is well noted. As a Regular unit we continue this tradition, emphasizing the art of drill at the company, battalion, and brigade level.
The 1st US is a charter member of the Frontier Brigade, and supports local, regional, and national level reenacting events. As U. S. Regulars, the unit maintains high standards in regards to appearance, drill and impression. All members are expected to keep brass polished, leathers blackened, and a positive attitude towards drill and Army Regulations.
The 1st US maintains a living history program that is offered to various schools and non-profit groups in the North and Central Texas area. These programs vary but can be tailored to meet any particular need. The 1st US also can supply exhibits for various institutions such as libraries, schools, and corporations.
We thank you for your interest both in the hobby of reenacting and in the 1st US in particular. For more information about joining the 1st US please see our
